Kelli Simmonds
Chairperson
Kelli Simmonds is the Chairperson of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal. She was appointed by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council on May 28, 2020 for a five-year term, and reports to the Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
Kelli obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick and went on to complete her Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Kelli worked in the private sector before becoming a civil servant in 2002 where she held a number of positions in different departments. In 2014, Kelli was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Environment and Local Government, during which time she concurrently served as the Interim Deputy Attorney General for several months in 2016. She has extensive experience in legislative interpretation and development, labour relations, employment and administrative law, corporate governance, and self-regulating professional associations. Kelli is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Canadian Bar Association and the Foundation of Administrative Justice (FOAJ).
Kelli is a native New Brunswicker and resides in Fredericton with her husband. She is the proud mother of three adult children.
